At Crown Bakeries, we believe that the future of baking starts with a commitment to sustainability. As we craft the baked goods that nourish and delight, we remain dedicated to minimizing our environmental footprint and protecting the planet for generations of bakers and bread-lovers to come.
Environmental Leadership & Recognition
At Crown Bakeries, we’re committed to leading the way in sustainability and environmental stewardship. We proudly announce that two of our facilities have been awarded the 2024 ENERGY STAR® by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for superior energy performance. The ENERGY STAR is the distinguishing mark of energy efficiency for commercial bread and roll plants in the United States. Select Crown facilities are now recognized as among the most energy-efficient based on their performance on EPA’s ENERGY STAR energy performance scale.
For select facilities, we are proud to announce our goal of a 42% emission reduction by 2030.

Through a number of science-based energy reduction initiatives, many of our facilities are already contributing to a greener future for the baking industry. Current projects include:
- Compressor efficiency upgrades
- New oven heat recovery and insulation systems
- Efficient LED lighting and motion sensors
- Implementation of a company-wide Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Participation in the Tennessee Valley Authority “Green Flex” Program, purchasing renewable energy to offset our consumption
Crown continues to invest in sustainable technology, while constantly improving our processes to minimize adverse impacts on the environment.
